PIP is an acronym for our Parent Infant Program, and also happens to be another word for seed which is a beautiful analogy for this program designed to support and nurture your first days, weeks, and months as a parent. As a seed must be nurtured, so must your relationship with your child so you may blossom and reach your full potential, as individuals and as a family. Our goal is in this program is to provide a safe and comfortable space where your budding family can grow deep roots within a community of nurtured connection and support.
“The greatness of the human personality begins at the hour of birth. From this . . . affirmation there comes what may seem a strange conclusion: that education must start from birth.” Maria Montessori
Our Parent Infant Program provides you an opportunity to observe and interact with your child in a thoughtfully prepared environment with other parents and with the guidance of a trained and certified Montessori guide.
Through participation, you will learn:
- How and when to intervene in your child’s process of learning and exploring;
- How to choose materials that will best serve your child dependent on their unique developmental needs;
- How to incorporate language that will best facilitate a strong bond with your child while supporting their growth as an individual;
- And, techniques that support your child’s development while saving you money!
Who can participate? Although we refer to PIP as a parent infant program, PIP is a valuable experience for any significant caregiver in the child’s life. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, nannies, and other family members are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Classes are held Friday mornings from 8:30 am – 10:00 am or 10:30 am – Noon. Each class includes time for observation and play with your child within a Montessori prepared environment, snack, and time for discussion on topics such as nutrition, language, and movement.
