I’m looking forward to sunny days ahead, though I’m definitely transitioning into this new season with gratitude for the long winter months which gave me lots of opportunity for stillness and reflection. In a culture that values “busyness,” I understand slowing down can be difficult. Those who know me best are fully aware of how much I struggle with this myself! Still, I did my best to take advantage of the season and took time to reflect on the various branches of my business, particularly The Nest and my Writing Circle for Mothers. I’ve also been thinking about the Parent Child Playgroup I hosted last fall (which I’m looking forward to hosting again someday; stay tuned!)
First, I had to ask myself, what do all of these branches have in common? The answer was obvious once I took some time to reflect on what I love most about each program. They’re all rooted in the Montessori philosophy of respect for the developing human (both child and adult.) I’ve come to realize that what I’m really passionate about is creating space for others to feel seen and heard, to find their own voice and feel empowered!
This passion is also what draws me to creating with the children. Inspired by the success of last year’s Outdoor Art Show, we’ve been diving deeper into our art this year and I’ve been blown away by the impact it has had on the children’s self-awareness and ability to express themselves. I cannot wait to share their work with you in our 2nd Annual Outdoor Art Show on April 22nd. This year’s art work has been inspired by some of our favorite nature-themed books, and you won’t want to miss out!
